Hello.
Okay, so I just finished reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I have not watched the movie yet (in case you were wondering). I feel a bit empty inside because, man, I just finished another book. Next on my list, again, in case you were wondering, will be Paper Towns by John Green.
Charlie's life, in the book is kind of sad. His freshman year was a lot more eventful than mine, I can tell you that much. I have a whole 2 binders filled with entries I wrote every single day. Now, I don't do it as often. I document my sophomore life in two places. Here, in this blog, and in a big notebook. The notebook is primarily for in school events, and here I typically write about things that don't have to do with school. So, it works. For now. It won't work so swell when I want to read everything all together, but you know what. My future self is just going to have to tough it out.
So, about the book. There are a few things that it hasn't really resolved completely. I warn you know, possible spoilers. So if you don't want spoilers, I recommend leaving the page now. Seriously. Last chance, mate. Okay. Here we go.
I'm curious as to what's going on with Charlie's sister. He says she's pregnant with her ex's baby, and not too long afterwards, they go to the clinic. And that is the last we hear of the pregnancy. I don't understand. Is she still pregnant? I assume, based on the amount of time that's passed from that point in the book, and the end, and how her parents never said anything about it, that she went to the clinic to get an abortion. But I don't really know. I should look this up. Or I should watch the movie. Okay, yeah, I'm going to watch the movie, and then I'm sure I would have figured it out by the end of it.
It is currently 10:54pm. I had a 3 hour nap, so I'm just going to go ahead and watch the movie now.
It is now only 12:38am, and that is not so bad. This was around the time I estimated I'd finish. Give or take a half hour. So, it seems like the movie was a bit more cheery than the book. His sister didn't get pregnant, for one thing. They didn't accentuate on Patrick's drinking or Charlie's smoking or anything of that sort. It was pretty fast paced, and skipped out on a lot of things. I mean, there are movies based off of books so much bigger page number-wise that include more of the story in X amount of time. But, maybe that was the point of the film? All the events of his Freshman year are crunched together in around 100 minutes, because, really, that is how fast it feels. Everything else is a blur. Like, I feel like freshman year was both a million years ago, yet not so far away. I don't know what I'm saying.
Anyways, I guess if I want to find out about Charlie's sister, I'll either have to google it, or reread the section. Since I can't remember the section, (part 3?) I'm going to go google.
